Standard Hardware and Accessories

Handle Options

Lever/Lever Handle: A traditional handle on both sides of the door.

Lever/Lever Handles are the most popular door handles chosen with Palladio Composite Doors.

The door can be shut in a latched position with this handle by pulling it up to engage the lock. However, the door is not securely locked until you insert and turn the key to secure the locks.

Lever/Pad Handle: A lever handle on the inside and a pad (shorter) handle on the outside.

Lever/Pad Handles work differently to Lever/Lever Handles in that, this handle has a lever handle on the inside of the door and a pad on the outside of the door.

The difference with this handle is that it is semi-locked when you shut the door outside so you will need the key to open the door.

However, a similarity with Lever/Lever Handles is that the door is not securely locked until you insert and turn the key to secure the locks.

Thumb Turn Cylinder: We provide a FREE UPGRADE to Thumb Turn Cylinder.

Choosing an optional extra thumb turn cylinder for the inside of a door is a matter of personal choice. A feature that could be an advantage for some could be a disadvantage to others. This all depends on your household.

A thumb turn cylinder on the inside of a door is a cylinder shaped piece of hardware that, when turned, locks the door.

This can be useful for doors with a Lever/Lever Handle as you need the key to lock a door with a Lever/Lever Handle. In the event that the key is left in the door when locked, someone outside with a key cannot lock the door from the outside.

Another feature of a thumb turn cylinder on the inside of a door is that you don’t need the key to unlock the door inside to get out. This can be useful but for some, it could be a disadvantage, particularly if you smallies in the house that can easily get out on their own.

4 Hinges As Standard

Palladio Composite Doors are designed with enhanced durability and security in mind. One
of the key features that contribute to this durability is the inclusion of four adjustable hinges as standard, compared to the three hinges typically found on other doors. These additional hinges provide several benefits:

  1. Increased Strength and Stability: The fourth hinge distributes the weight of the door more evenly, reducing stress on each hinge. This makes the door more stable and less prone to warping or sagging over time.
  2. Enhanced Security: Additional hinges make it more difficult for potential intruders to force the door open. More points of attachment mean increased resistance to physical attacks.
  3. Better Adjustability: Four adjustable hinges allow for finer tuning of the door’s alignment. This ensures a perfect fit within the frame, improving the door’s operation and sealing properties, which can enhance energy efficiency and weather resistance.
  4. Longer Lifespan: The reduced strain on each hinge helps prolong the lifespan of the door by minimizing wear and tear on the hinges and the door structure itself.

Overall, Palladio Composite Doors’ use of four adjustable hinges is a significant upgrade that underscores their commitment to quality, durability, and security.
